The culinary journey of this year’s Celebrity MasterChef stars has come to an end, with the show crowning its 2022 winner. For their final challenge, the three finalists – Mel Blatt, Danny Jones and Lisa Snowdon – tried their hand at a three-course meal to impress the judges, Gregg Wallace and John Torode. At the end of a tense two-hour cooking session, it was Lisa’s menu that won the hearts and taste buds of Greg and John, and she emerged the winner. BBC He served mackerel with rhubarb and fennel as a starter and had the chance to redeem himself with a second, “glorious” pan-fried duck, which he served with sunflower seed puree, mushrooms and a honey soy dressing. To top it off, she baked a tart with a thick chocolate ganache and a cookie base. Both Mel and Danny showed off their impressive skills with their own menus, making it difficult for the judges to choose a winner. Mel went all out with a steak tartare on crispy rice, crab and langoustine ravioli and cherry clafout for dessert – her mum’s favourite. Danny went for an Asian-inspired menu, a nod to the delicious food he had on his honeymoon. For starters, he gave Greg and John crispy fried shrimp coated in breadcrumbs and coconut, served with lime mayo and mango slaw. BBC The McFly singer and guitarist chose an “unusual” combination of lamb and Massaman curry sauce and Pádron peppers as his main. Finally, his dessert was Japanese Banana Dumplings with Coconut Milk Caramel and Candied Pecans. After tasting the three celebrities’ dishes, Gregg and John decided that Lisa’s “brilliant” vision deserved this year’s Celebrity MasterChef title. The presenter broke down in tears as she accepted her award, calling her stint on the show “a life-changing experience”. Celebrity MasterChef airs on BBC One.
