Following their appeal for information on Thursday, a South Simcoe police spokesman clarified that the incident was “not considered suspicious”. “We often issue multiple subpoenas to investigations as part of our due diligence. We can never assume that we are reaching everyone we might need to reach with one appeal,” the spokesperson added. “There has been a lot of discussion around this incident on social media due to Tanya’s high profile and we would like to hear directly from people if they have any information that could help the investigation.” The spokesman said it was a forensic investigation, which the police were assisting and the coroner would “determine the classification”. “The owner of the skydiving business is working closely with the police and the coroner and is being very co-operative,” the spokesman added. Skydive Toronto previously released a statement saying the victim was a “recent addition” to the skydiving community. “The parachutist released a rapidly rotating main parachute at low altitude without the time/altitude required to inflate the backup parachute,” the statement said.
