“Initial reports indicate the motorhome was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes,” said Const. Nicole Braithwaite of the West Vancouver Police Department. The trailer caused two other vehicles to swerve — one overturned and hit the concrete barrier, while another ended up in the ditch on the south side of the freeway — and then collided head-on with a third vehicle. Two people were taken to hospital in critical condition, while four others suffered minor injuries.

Unthinkable.” Braithwaite said police are investigating why the car was in the wrong lane, but “it’s too early in the investigation to say why and for how long they were driving in the wrong lane.” Police are looking for witnesses who saw the car on the freeway, or saw it enter the freeway from a particular exit.
