The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) told FOX 11 news that a 39-year-old man allegedly followed the girl into the bathroom at Stater Bros. in Whittier, California, around 2 p.m. and then locked the bathroom door.

“That’s when the suspect pushed the victim and got on top of her and attempted to sexually assault her on the ground,” said LASD Sgt. Jose Ramos told FOX 11. Police say when the girl’s mother heard her scream, she started screaming too, at which point three men were able to enter the bathroom and pin the suspect to the bathroom floor until officers arrived. “The screams were just terrifying,” a witness told FOX 11. We apologize, but this video failed to load. “He was actually screaming ‘Help, Help! Need help. My daughter is in the bathroom with a man.” The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment and police believe there may be more victims. The unnamed suspect reportedly has a lengthy criminal record and was on parole before being arrested for attempted sexual assault at the Norwalk Sheriff’s Office.
