Updated: 13:57, 21 September 2022 A man has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving after a motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a lorry on the A14 outside Ipswich. The incident happened on the eastbound carriageway between Spoughton and Copdock Interchange just after 6am on Wednesday. Police, fire and ambulance were called to the incident, but the motorcycle rider, a 61-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The lorry driver, a man in his 30s, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink driving. He was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Center for questioning, where he remains. Both directions of the A14 were closed while police carried out a crash investigation and to allow the vehicles to be recovered. The westbound freeway reopened just after 8 a.m., while one lane reopened on the eastbound freeway just before 1 p.m. The eastbound freeway was fully reopened shortly before 2 p.m. It is the second death to be confirmed on the A14 in Suffolk in recent days, following the death of a pedestrian on the eastbound carriageway at Coddenham, north of Ipswich, on Saturday night. Pending confirmation at a formal inquest, the pedestrian has been named as 39-year-old Jason Pack from Claydon. Police would like to hear from any witnesses and have appealed for drivers who have footage of the area or were driving on the A14 at the time of the collision to come forward.
