Video shared with NBC 5 shows the truck engulfed in flames as it flipped upside down before hitting the ground. While the crash is still under investigation, Allen police said it appears the tractor-trailer was heading north on the Main Expressway when it collided with another vehicle. The tractor-trailer then drove over the right side of the overpass and caught fire as it hit the ground. The driver of the truck, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, was killed in the collision. Police said the driver’s identity will be released after family is notified. “Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the victim’s family and friends as they deal with their loss,” police said in a statement Tuesday afternoon. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured. Driver Edith Pearson was on Stacy Road when she heard a loud boom and watched the 18-wheeler plunge down the highway. “People got out of their cars to see if they could help, but it was too late,” Pearson said. He waited to turn onto the service road and was seconds from where the cab landed. “It was very bad and I felt bad for the gentleman in the car and very sad to see someone die like that,” Pearson said. “And to think that I could have turned around and been under that was just the scariest thing.” As the investigation continues, drivers are being warned to expect long delays on Stacy Road. “The Allen Police Department is asking for the community’s patience and cooperation as we investigate this scene. We expect eastbound and westbound traffic on Stacy Road to be affected for an undetermined amount of time, so we are asking people to avoid the area and to try to use alternative routes to reach their destination,” police said. Anyone who witnessed this collision or has any information regarding it is asked to contact the Allen Police Department Traffic Unit at 214-509-4288. The driver of a tractor-trailer was killed Tuesday when the rig they were driving flew off a bridge along US 75 in Allen and crashed on Stacy Street. Warning, the crash comes near the end of the video and may be hard to watch.
