Two Kelowna residents will be without their cars for at least seven days after they were caught racing. RCMP say officers on patrol on Sept. 17 at 5:15 p.m. in the area of Gordon Drive and Clement Avenue observed two vehicles running from Clement Avenue to Clifton Road. The officer followed the vehicles, a green 2019 Ford Mustang and a blue 2005 Chrysler 200, and saw the vehicles traveling over 75 mph in a 60 mph zone. The vehicles stopped at a red light at Clifton Avenue, so the officer positioned his marked police car in front and called for the drivers to pull over. Both drivers admitted the offense and received a speeding ticket and a $368 fine. Their cars will also be impounded for seven days. “These dangerous driving behaviors pose an extremely high risk, not only to the drivers of these vehicles, but also to innocent drivers and their passengers. We take these incidents extremely seriously and therefore hold offenders accountable by removing their ability to continue these high-risk actions.” Kelowna RCMP traffic services Sgt.Mark Booth said.
