The monarch was buried in the UK in a service that started at 3am. PDT. While some avid Royal Family watchers, Anglophiles or fans of Her Royal Highness may have chosen to watch the story live, chances are many more did not. e.g. stopped short of declaring a statutory provincial holiday. However, all schools will remain closed, allowing students from kindergarten to post-secondary. The offices of most Crown corporations will remain closed, including ICBC. The courthouses will also be closed with rescheduling of procedures. Private businesses and organizations are free to designate the day as they see fit, but are not required to close, offer workers the day off, or pay employees scheduled as if it were a mandatory holiday. In Victoria, Premier John Horgan and Lt.-Gov. Janet Austin will join a 100 honor guard procession at the BC Parliament at 9:30am. The procession will leave the legislature at 10:15 am. and will make his way to Christ Church Cathedral, where the memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. A number of road closures will be in place in the capital and police said security measures are being stepped up.
