Investigators found a man critically injured in a shooting Saturday around 3:15 p.m., police said. “During the investigation, police learned that there was an adult male in the hospital with significant injuries,” said police spokesman Const. said Sandasha Bough. Under Ontario law, staff at hospitals and health care clinics are required to notify the police whenever a patient seeks treatment for a possible gunshot wound. A police cruiser remained at the scene Monday outside the two-story unit at the Bonaventure complex, a co-op that provides income-adjusted housing. A representative for the co-op did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

A neighbor said her son texted her over the weekend, telling her to use the back entrance of her house because there had been a shooting. The woman said she found blood on her front porch and on her neighbor’s porch and driveway. Both the woman and another neighbor, neither of whom wanted to be identified, said a woman and her adult son had moved into the unit at the center of the police investigation on Friday when a moving truck was seen outside the home. Investigators asked anyone who was in the area between 3 and 3:30 a.m. Saturday, or anyone with dash cam or home surveillance video, to contact police. The shooting – the 19th shooting incident in the city – comes just three days after a man was shot after an argument outside a house in a north-east London neighbourhood.

Emergency crews responded just after 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday on Flanders Row, just northwest of the intersection of Oxford Street and Highbury Avenue, where a man with gunshot wounds was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. A resident on the street said he was at his home when he heard two men arguing outside the home at 351 Flanders at about 3:30 a.m. two shots about an hour later. The suspect fled before officers arrived, police said. Later that evening, police were called to a report of a burglary in progress at the home where the shooting occurred and found two suspects leaving through the back door. Officers arrested the couple and seized a loaded shotgun and a small amount of drugs, police said. A 36-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were charged with multiple crimes. Six of the 19 shooting incidents in London this year resulted in injuries. Investigators filed charges in eight of the cases. [email protected]
