A video of the shoving went viral on social media last week. EPS claims the woman was armed with a knife and refused to drop it before filming the video. The officer will face no consequences because EPS found he used the least amount of force possible to safely arrest her. A spokesman confirmed Monday that the woman had not been charged. “Because intoxication was considered a factor in the gun report and there was no willing complainant, officers chose not to charge the woman,” EPS’s Carolin Maran said. “Instead, her outstanding warrants were processed, she was provided with a meal and when officers felt she was no longer a danger to others, she was released. As no charges have been filed in connection with this incident, we will not release her name or other additional investigative details.” The video of the push sparked a protest at EPS headquarters on Sunday.
